Derby The Arboretum 14
England's First Public "Park"
The ARBORETUM is often incorrectly referred to as "Arboretum Park", it was named "The Arboretum" by its donor Joseph Strutt in 1840 and has always been known as the Arboretum or "Arbo" by native Derbeians.

By carol roberts: I have been looking at your photographs with very fond memories. I was born in Arboretum place and would go on the Arboretum with my cousin and play conkers. My Grandparents lived there as well, I moved to Alvaston when I was two but went back to vivit my aunty and uncle every Saturday till the street was demolished. I recently went on a tour round the Arboretum and really enjoyed it. I am seventy this year but will never forget my beginning and the lovely memories I have of the place.
